Table Talk Information About Targai Grove The Property.
 
The property is a total of 103 acres ( about 40 hectares )
Our garden shed is 60 feet * 40 feet and has its own 10,000 gallon rain water tank. It has a full concrete floor, power and its own kitchen.
The main reason we purchased the property was the beautiful 800 metres of waterfront where you can water-ski, fish or just watch the pelicans fly in.
The vineyard and olive grove are watered via drip irrigation system which is has in total over 20 km of hosepipe.
Last year the property used about 6 megalitres of water ( 6 million litres)
We have a water allocation of 74 megalitres, and any water we do not use we are able to sell, the current sell rate is $126 per megalitres (about £52)
In addition to the vineyard the property has approximately 3000 olive trees which we hope will start to produce some high quality oil in 2008/09.
Approximately 60 acres of the property is farmed for cereal crops, which are rotated annually to ensure soil quality. The current crop is wheat.
Despite the property being some 150 miles from Melbourne it is possible to reach using your turning indicator less than 10 times once out of Melbourne Airport.
The closest "town" is Bundalong where the Murray River meets the Ovens River. It is approximately 3 miles and has a pub and a store.
